Fallow Help

Asked May 18, 2020, 11:55 AM EDT

I want to let my garden go fallow this year. When do I do this? In prep for this, I want to spread manure. How much manure do I spread and do I just let it lay or do I til the manure into the soil? Thank you for your time.

If you aren’t planting this year manure can be applied anytime, it can be left on top or worked in. If you are using f manure that hasn’t been Composted there are some safety considerations.

Since you won’t be planting this year you can add as much as is practical to do so. The nitrogen will move move off and not burn crops next year.
