getting rid of tulips

Asked May 16, 2020, 1:09 PM EDT

I want to remove all the tulips that were planted last fall. Can I simply starve the bulbs by cutting off all the leaves now?

If these are typical tulips, they will only bloom for two years at most and then the foliage will peter out.

Yes, by all means, cut off the foliage and starve the bulbs ASAP. You may get some weak foliage next year, simply repeat.

If your soil is crumbly and moist, you may be able to simply yank the entire plant out of the soil easily, too, and be done with it. Compost.
