Potash

Asked May 16, 2020, 10:17 AM EDT

hi , I had my lawn soil test done at mst.ext. It said I need 2#per 1000 sq.ft. of potassium. I already applied milorgrate brand 6-4-0 to my lawn. I got 0-0-60 (the Andersons brand) at the feed store to use for potassium. Is this OK to use ? I read conflicting opinions sulfate vs. Chloride potash. Thx so much for the help - Nancy

Hello Nancy,

I forwarded your question to an MSU Soil Testing Specialist. Here is his reply. Let me know if you have further questions!

"Hi Irene;

For a lawn applied at the recommended rate there should be no problem applying 0-0-60. For some vegetables that are sensitive to high chlorides it is recommended to use the potassium sulfate.
