Willow oak losing leaves

Asked May 15, 2020, 5:49 PM EDT

Should I be concerned about recent green leaf drop from my tree? Some of the leaves are solid green and some are also yellowish; some have brownish spots. They are not dark brown like the other photo posted The tree is about 200+ years old according to arborists who have seen it in the past. It has been regularly trimmed over the past 20 years and was trimmed a year ago. Trunk circumference is nearly 150 cm. Thanks for your help!

We have been swamped by reports of cold damage on a huge variety of plants, including trees. Even, specifically, willow oaks. You do not need to do any treatment. Trees produce many more leaves than they need and can afford to lose some.

Thank you so much Ellen
The leaf drop has indeed decreased and yes... we estimate about a billion leaves fall off our enormous tree every autumn!
thanks again and stay well!
