Blocking neighbor’s ivy, vinca

Asked May 15, 2020, 12:00 AM EDT

The neighbor to my backyard has English Ivy and vinca growing at will. He likes them. I’m having all the vinca and stray ivy dug out. Once we dig it out, I’m thinking about an in-ground barrier. How deep does it need to be? Do you have any special instructions about how best to get rid of vinca and ivy?

both of those plants are more likely to spread on the surface, rather than underground. However a barrier that is six to eight inches deep should be sufficient. You will need to monitor the surface spread but both are pretty easy to cut and pull up.
