Dandelion consumption

Asked May 7, 2020, 12:00 PM EDT

I have recently read that all parts of the dandelion plant are edible. I am curious only about safety not taste or growing. Are there any kinds of dandelions to be concerned about? Or that pose any sort of health concern? I have attached a few pictures of the ones I find in my yard (sorry they are hard to see) that have no herbicides, pesticides, etc. and are not located near roads. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

Other than avoiding the issues you mentioned, and removing insects from foliage, we are not aware of any problems with eating dandelions. They can be a diuretic and a laxative in sufficient quantities. We have not done research on these as a food source.

Here is an extension article about them: https://wimastergardener.org/article/dandelion-taraxacum-officinale/
