June-bearing strawberries in containers

Asked May 6, 2020, 4:26 PM EDT

I just planted new June-bearing strawberries in pots on my deck. Should I snip blossoms to promote stronger root growth as I would with strawberries in the ground? Or okay to let them bear fruit the first year?

Hi - For strawberries in a container, yes, we do recommend removing the flowers during the first growing season, the same as you would do with strawberries planted in the ground.
