Best material to make raised beds

Asked May 5, 2020, 1:04 PM EDT

Our old vegetable raised beds are falling apart and we are trying to determine which would be the best choice to rebuild. Cedar, treated wood, trex or some other material. Current beds are 10" tall but we think we would like to go taller as we have gotten older and stooping isn't nearly as easy as it used to be. Thank you!

If you're intending to raise more veggies, it would be best to rebuild with untreated wood like cedar that will last a long time and won't leach chemicals into your soil.

Here's a link to an Oregon State Extension publication "Raised Bed Gardening" that might be helpful too,. https://catalog.extension.oregonstate.edu/sites/catalog/files/project/pdf/fs270.pdf
