Strawberry Patch Pests

Asked May 4, 2020, 11:24 PM EDT

I have several bugs I’m noticing in my strawberries—I think I have cutworms, strawberry root weevils, spittlebugs, and millipedes. I was researching natural nematodes and was wondering about what you would recommend. Pictured below is what I am finding in amongst the strawberry root ball.

Thank you for your question. Nematodes are effective on some insects at some stages of their life cycle. First needs be an ID of the insect(s). You appear to have an egg sac, but I can’t tell any details about it. Might you supply more information? Thank you!

The pupation of the flea beetle looks like that in your photo, but, without seeing plant damage, we can't be sure this is the issue: https://pubs.extension.wsu.edu/organic-management-of-flea-beetles
