Plant recommendations

Asked April 30, 2020, 11:04 PM EDT

We have a property in Lexington on Lake Huron. We have lost quite a bit of shoreline and our breakwall this year. In the next few months we will be building a new wall and repairing the cliff. The nice thing is this gives us a blank slate for adding vegetation to a cliff that previously didn't have much other than sumac growing. Do you have any recommendations for plants? I'm thinking grasses, maybe some willows. Is there something that would help prevent erosion? Thank you, Rebecca

Thank you for your question. Good luck with your project. Here are a few great resources for you to review. There is a 4-part series about Lakeshore Ecosystems that is very informative, here is a link for the erosion part.
