Compost question

Asked April 29, 2020, 6:53 PM EDT

I recently purchased a rutabaga. It has a waxy covering which I will peel away with the skin. Is it ok to put the waxy rutabaga peelings in my home compost? Or in the green bin for the County compost?

Howard County Maryland

Hi- the peelings will safely decompose either in your backyard composter or in the county's composting operation. The wax coating is applied to prevent shriveling.
