Blueberry branches with no leaves

Asked April 29, 2020, 1:38 PM EDT

I have several blueberry bushes and noticed that the new leaves and flowers have sprouted on the greener branches or straight from the side of a brown branch. I have some brown branches with what look like tiny buds but there's no sign of any green growth or life. All my blueberry plants have leaves except for on these "dead" branches. Should I wait and will the leaves/growth come later or are they dead? Should I remove the dead branches now or wait until next year February 2021 to prune them out.

Hi- prune out dead branches now. Buds would have opened by now. You can check by cutting into the brown shoots and buds that haven't opened. You'll see green if they are alive.
