Planting Crepe Myrtle cuttings.

I want to know if I trim crepe Myrtle that r 2” across n plant if there’s ANY possibility they will root n grow?

Thanks for the question to extension. Crepe myrtles can be propagated from hardwood or softwood cuttings. The are generally taken at about pencil width in diameter and about eight inches in length containing at least three nodes near the tip of a twig since this is a vigorously growing part of the plant with plenty of hormones and activity capable of supporting new growth

A cutting that is two inches in diameter may root but it is much less likely to since the wood is mature, less vigorous, and has excessive tissue to support with little means to do so.
