Container gardening

Asked April 22, 2020, 8:56 PM EDT

Good evening. I am in Westland, MI and I will be directly sowing seeds in containers on the patio for the first time, however, I am unsure of what needs to be added to the potting soil to get them started. What amendments would you suggest I add to the potting soil when sowing seeds directly into containers?

Container gardening is fun and exciting. When sowing seeds in containers you will need soil that has been modified to improve drainage and aeration. Regular garden soil mixes can be amended with peat, perlite, and vermiculite. Also there are “soilless” mixes at the garden stores that can be used.
