little white worms

last year at picking time we found little white worms in our gorgeous raspberries. we read an article that stated to clean out the bed etc. when will know if they are back, when do they infect, li don't want to be feeding little worms to grandkids

Thank you for contacting us about your raspberries. It is difficult to diagnose pest problems without a physical inspection. However, I suspect you may have seen the larvae of the spotted wing drosophila. These can be found in ripening fruit as opposed to other pests that occur in over-ripe fruit.

If you choose to use a chemical control, spinosad is the active ingredient you should look for.
