Tree face

Asked April 20, 2020, 10:48 PM EDT

Is there potential harm to a tree if you apply a tree face? Would some species be more prone to damage than others?

Thanks for your question and your patience. If you’re referring to the tree decorations you drill into trees, I would say any time you’re drilling holes into a tree, you’re creating a wound and potentially introducing damage if you’re not careful or are applying decorations that are proportionately too big/heavy for the tree to handle. The application may also make the tree more susceptible to insect and disease damage, especially if the holes are large and deep and the tree is already unhealthy.

Not necessarily species-related, but if the trees are larger in diameter, have strong bark, and are in good health, they have a better chance of healing from any stress introduced.
