Lesser Celandine

Asked April 15, 2020, 11:13 AM EDT

This invasive plant is in my flower beds and lawn. I know I can use Round Up or a similar product, but am concerned about using it when the plant is in bloom. Should I only use it on plants with no blooms? Cut the blooms off?

If you are concerned with pollinator exposure, it wouldn't hurt to weed-whack the blooms off first, or wait for a cloudy (but not rainy) or cooler day where fewer insects will be out visiting flowers. Lesser Celandine goes dormant fairly quickly as the weather warms up, so try not to delay too long to give the herbicide time be effective.
