Do you have any idea what this fungus is. It is in my son’s azalea beds. It started out as white spots.

These are a type of mushroom called stinkhorn fungi. Like all mushrooms, they tend to pop up when conditions are just right, and are not long lasting.
This particular kind grows from round, white egg-like structures from underground.
They are harmless.
