Vine Maple damage
This week, the landscape contractor damaged the little vine maple while he was pruning an adjacent tree. The sapling now tilts and the bark on the trunk (1 1/2 inch diameter) is severely scraped (4 inch long gash). I can right the sapling and re-stake it, but what can i do to repair the scrape? Do I need to seal it and with what?

For repairing damage to the main stem of a sapling, remove any raged edges or bark that is peeled back.
We don't recommend wound sealant products since they are not proven to help.
Good luck.
Thank you. I followed your recommendations regarding the damage to the vine maple. I hope it thrives, for once I got the plant in the right place.
