Crop rotation.

What should I plant in last years onion bed? Same bed has been used for four years. Where should I rotate the onions to? Tidewater Oregon.

Thank you for your question. I am uncertain what size of garden bed you have. Commercial growers are advised to rotate onions with "corn, wheat, potatoes, sugar beets, alfalfa, and other crops." https://agsci.oregonstate.edu/mes/sustainable-onion-production/crop-rotation Extension also recommends that you rotate crops annually.

Just don't plant the same plant family members (in this case, onions, leeks. garlic and chives) year after year. Hope this is helpful. Good luck!
