Stiltgrass, crabgrass or bermuda grass?

Asked March 29, 2020, 10:26 AM EDT

Hello - I thought this was stiltgrass, and my husband thinks it's crabgrass. But now I'm wondering if it's bermuda grass? Can you tell from my photos?

Hello. This looks like bermudagrass, also called wiregrass due to its creeping habit. It is a perennial grass that goes dormant (turns brown) in the winter and will continue growing again when the weather warms up. Small areas can be pulled out by hand or using a hand-digging tool. For large infestations in a lawn, please refer to the recommendations provided on our website, https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/bermudagrass.
