Can you tell me what this stuff is and what I can do to rid my vegetable garden of this? I do not use chemicals in that garden.

Thank you for your question. This weed appears to be common chickweed, a winter annual that germinates in the fall. This weed usually found in shady, compacted, or moist soils. Mulching will help and with its weak root system it is easily pulled up. Hoeing with a scuffle or or stirrup hoe also works well. Get it early before it seeds. check out the following links:

I hope this helps,

Thank you, Barry. Looks like that is chickweed. It just seems like it is so voracious. I do use my 'hula hoe' on it and get out as much as I can but it just keeps coming back. It's like a tiny bit of it left behind expands into the whole garden in a minute. I will keep hoeing..... Maybe if I tried to clear the garden of it in the fall?
thanks
