Elderberry varieties

Hello, I live in SW Redmond and would like to plant some elderberry shrubs. Which varieties do you recommend would produce a good supply of berries for syrups/wine?

Here is some information for you to read up on and make some informed decisions.https://extension.oregonstate.edu/sites/default/files/documents/8836/sp50536wildberriesandfruits.pdf

The native elderberry grows more commonly around moist environments but it can be found in these areas around Central Oregon. The ornamental elderberries Sambucus nigra and its varieties do well here but they may not produce the large berries you need for wine and syrups.
I suggest you visit a native plant nursery like WinterCreek or Clearwater. Both are local to our area.
