We covered our rather large asparagus patch with leaves in the fall. Should we just leave the leaves on the patch or rake them off. Some say to burn the leaves to allow the ash on the patch? Thanks for your help.
Branch County Michigan
I see little benefit to leaving them in place, or burning, except that decomposing leaves are always beneficial to soil structures. Blow 'em off and out of your way for harvest. Compost them for future use or spread 'em in the field for mowing over.
