Red Wigglers in Compost

Asked March 14, 2020, 9:31 PM EDT

Hello! I have a compost tumbler that I've been considering adding red wigglers to. My concern is releasing a non-native worm species into the environment when I remove compost or if they wiggle through the holes in the sides of the tumbler. This is particularly concerning because my house backs up to native forest. Thoughts? Thank you!

As long as the worms are red wigglers it is okay to add them to your compost pile and should not be a concern.
