pumpkin vine pruning

Asked March 11, 2020, 1:05 PM EDT

in the past my pumpkin vines outgrow their patch. can I clip the growing tip on the vine to keep them inside their modest but sufficiently sized patch. My concern is with the nature of their vine when clip it a huge opening will be created for unwanted microbes and parasites. my garden has been 100% living soil organic for 3 years. Thanks for your help.

Yes, you can prune pumpkin vines. They will heal over just as other plants do when pruned by people, wildlife or natural events.

We have a ton of information on vegetable gardening that you can search on our website. (Congrats on the organic soil!)
