I have grayish grubs in the compost bin with the red worms. Are they okay or do I have a problem?
Yamhill County Oregon
Without an image or description, my best guess is that the unusual creatures in your worm bin are soldier fly larvae. If so, the worm bin is on the wet side. To correct the situation, add more dry bedding to the bin.
To ensure we are referring to the same thing, please see this article "Black Soldier Fly Larvae" (http://ccmg.ucanr.edu/files/115051.pdf)
If they don't match the image, when you reply to this email, please send an image of what's present in your bin.
