Good morning. Once Aronia shrubs are established, you can remove one in three older stems each year (prune them out at the base). Pruning out older canes is suggested to allow for adequate light to get into the shrubs for good berry production. This pruning can be done in winter to late spring. Dead or disease stems can be removed anytime from October through early March.
