During the winter, I have used 2 inches of straw as a insulator for my garden. Now that spring is coming, should I completely remove the straw or can i till it into the soil. Will the straw make compose even though it is not as good as vegetable peelings.

If the straw has mostly broken-down by now, then yes, you can lightly incorporate it into the soil, though it is not necessary. If the straw is mostly intact, we recommend leaving it as a topdressing and merely moving it aside temporarily when planting. It will continue to biodegrade and amend the soil while also serving as a mulch to discourage weeds and moderate soil temperatures and moisture.
