milkweed

Hi, I'm planning to add milkweed to the pollinator garden I'm creating and would like to know what type of milkweed is recommended for Baltimore County (Cockeysville area)? Also, is there anything specific I should watch for on the plant tag to ensure that I'm not buying a plant that will do more harm than good? Thank you so much for your advice.

Both common milkweed and butterfly weed should do well for you: https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/native-plants-sunny-slopes

Swamp milkweed is also a winner.

Do avoid tropical milkweed. It can pass along a parasite to migrating Monarchs. This explains the connection: https://xerces.org/blog/tropical-milkweed-a-no-grow Many retailers sell this milkweed, jumping on the milkweed bandwagon, but it is not the same as native ones.
