Keeping squirrels off my small peach tree

Asked February 11, 2020, 4:10 PM EST

Can you be of any help? I've tried netting on the tree and around the tree.

There are no easy solutions to this problem. Below is some information.
If you are netting the entire tree and if there is nothing around for them to eat, they may chew through the netting.

If the tree is by itself, that is, it isn't surrounded by other trees or there are buildings nearby from which the squirrel can jump, you can try using a squirrel baffle around the trunk of the tree. These are often used to keep squirrels out of bird feeders.

Lastly, you can try tying small paper bags around each peach to prevent squirrel feeding. Clemson has a web page and video on how to use the fruit bags. There are also order forms. You can do a Google search for more information on fruit protection bags. https://www.clemson.edu/extension/peach/commercial/diseases/clemsonfruitbags.html
