trees in distress

various species of trees in the area are dying at a very quick rate. hoping someone could answer some questions i have. thx bill. i have lived here 50 years and have seen some decline but whatever is going on in the last couple years is happening quick.

Old trees eventually die. There is no broad scale problem that is causing tree death in Delaware. I can't diagnose any problem from the information you sent. Interior needles of evergreens often die because they receive less sun. The trunk has lichen growing on it. That can happen with live trees. This one may be dead or dying, but that isn't evident from the photo. Sorry, I can't be more helpful.
