Transplanting blueberries

Asked February 4, 2020, 8:32 PM EST

Hello, I have two blueberry bushes that I'd like to transplant to a different location. I've had them in a very sunny, hot spot for the past two years and they have not done very well even with adequate water. I have another location, in which a mature blueberry bush is already thriving, that I would like to transplant the other bushes to. When would be a good time to transplant the younger bushes to the new location? Thank you, Alexandra

Thank you for your question, Alexandria. One of the primary issues with blueberry ‘success’ is to have an acidic soil near the roots. Before you transplant them, you might want to have your soil (where they now are) tested to make sure the soil is appropriately acidic: http://www.al-labs-west.com/contact-oregon.php You might also want to read the following about blueberry care: https://catalog.extension.oregonstate.edu/ec1304/html Good luck!
