Peanuts require a long growing season. You can start indoors and transplant out after the last frost usually mid May. Start indoors usually 5-8 weeks before the planting out date. Look for early maturing varieties. Some common varities include Va Jumbo and Spanish peanuts. There are not a lot of disease and insect issues.
