We moved from out of state and purchased a home with two natural spring drains on the lot. It looks like we may have a third running off the property and down the street. Should we be concerned? How do we determine if it is a spring? Who would we contact to help us deal with the issue?
Springs are great to have around your property. If you are looking for what uses you could have with the springs you would want to reach out to your local watermaster - found on the Oregon Water Resources Board website. For springs originating and ending on your property you can use the water normally in any way you'd like, the spring that leaves your property may be feeding a small stream, etc. In which case you wouldn't be able to use that water without a water right.
