Maple tree

Asked December 7, 2019, 1:40 PM EST

I have sone type of maple that is in the middle of a field and it is massive. Is there a good way to determine the age with measurements? It is the biggest maple I have personally ever seen.

There is not a good way to determine age of a tree with outside measurements. The only sure way is to have a forester bore into the trunk and count the rings. Depending on the species of the tree, you may have a "State Champion" tree (the largest of its kind). Contact the KY Division of Forestry and have a forester look at it.
