I would like to know what type of plant is the one in the circular pattern in the attached photo. There were a large number of these in the field at the base of Flat Top Mountain near Sanford, Colorado.

Conejos County Colorado

The plant is Blue Grama Grass. It is a highly nutritious plant for animal grazing. It often develops this pattern when it is not grazed for a long period of time. You may also see a ring of Blue Grama with the center dead when it isn't grazed for a long time. This is a warm season, bunch type grass.
