extinct strawberry varieties

Asked December 1, 2019, 12:57 PM EST

Hello, Long ago, I read an article in the Oregonian about extinct strawberry varieties. I have searched the Oregonian through Multnomah library, and cannot find the article. In the article, it was mentioned that an extinct variety (of exceptional taste) was found behind someone's barn, and that Oregon State University had dug them up, and were now caring for them. Any idea of what happened to that variety? I seem to remember, that it tasted of a true strawberry, but they were not good for shipping. Any info is appreciated. val Iven
