Preheat oven to 425 degrees, Place the turkey (unstuffed) in roasting pan and pour in 1 cup boiling water and cover. Cook for exactly one hour. Turn off oven. Do not open oven door during cooking or during night. Remove from oven the next morning. Before serving, return turkey to preheated 500 degree oven for 20 - 25 minutes.

Please go to this document for the safe procedures for preparing, roasting, storing leftovers of that turkey you want to roast. During this time of year, there are always recipes out there on the internet, blogs, facebook, newspapers, magazines, and people sharing their favorite way to get that great tasting turkey that is so moist. The recipe you are asking about is not allowing for is the turkey fresh, frozen, the weight of the turkey? Turning off the oven is very dangerous as now the temperature will go below a safe temperature to roast the turkey thoroughly inside the bird.
Please.....Please do not use this method as it is NOT SAFE! You can call the Meat and Poultry Hotline and ask them if you would like. You can type in your Search engine box the words: state university extension and preparing turkey
