weird growth

Hi. I have a young potted Meyer lemon tree and it seems healthy although it hasn't started fruiting yet. I noticed this growth at the soil line. Is this weird or normal?

Thank you for your question. It is hard to tell the color of the growth, you don’t say whether it is indoors or out, and I don’t anything about your watering habits. I can tell you it is a mushroom, and here is an Extension article that describes a good possibility: https://hortnews.extension.iastate.edu/faq/one-my-houseplants-has-several-small-yellow-mushrooms-surface-potting-soil-will-mushrooms-harm Hope this is helpful. Good luck!

Sorry, it's not a good photo. It's part of the trunk. It's the same woody texture
and it has the same 'bark'. It just grew out of the main stem at such an odd place.

I’m sorry. I just cannot tell what you are asking about. Perhaps you could contact your county Extension office, where staff can examine it. This web page has a list of Extension offices: http://cce.cornell.edu/localoffices

It occurs to me this might be a sucker: https://extension.arizona.edu/sites/extension.arizona.edu/files/pubs/az1455.pdf

thank you
I'll check it out.
