Unripe apples

Asked November 20, 2019, 5:45 PM EST

We have bought Braeburn apples but they are rock hard. Can we ripen them so they are soft enough to bite into?

Thank you for your question. Apples do not ripen after they have been removed from the tree (although they rot). Since Braeburns are late to ripen (October), but store well, yours may have been picked too early. But you can still use them for cooking. Good luck!
