What is happening to my weeping cherry tree trunk? Looks like the bark is peeling off. Hope you can see the attached photo. Can the tree be saved? What do I do? Thanks. Carolyn

Thank you for your question. Peeling bark is typically subsequent to a trunk split or splits. There is little you can do, although this Extension article has some ideas to help prevent the tree from suffering further insult: http://www.plantclinic.cornell.edu/factsheets/barksplitting.pdf

Good luck!
