Best Evergreens to plant

Asked November 18, 2019, 11:06 AM EST

Next spring I would like to plant six or seven evergreens at the edge of the wood line of tall trees located about 20 feet from my deck. They would get late afternoon shade. Which plants would you recommend and when to plant them?

It is a good idea to plant a mix of different plants so you do not lose the stand to an insect or disease issue. You did not mention the mature height and width of the plants. Possible suggestions include upright hollies, eastern red cedar, and sweet bay magnolia.
Plant in the spring.

Thank you!
