Locust tree did not produce any pods

Asked November 15, 2019, 11:58 AM EST

We have some kind of a locust tree in our yard. Every year in the 10 years we've been in this house, the tree has produced a lot of seed pods, but this Fall doesn't seem to have produced any. Is this a phenomenon in our region this year, or does it indicate a problem with the tree?

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to diagnose a plant problem without a photo, or a plant tissue examination. So, best we can do is to cite you to some issues occurring about these trees: https://planttalk.colostate.edu/topics/insects-diseases/1400-10-honeylocust-decline/ https://extension.colostate.edu/topic-areas/yard-garden/honeylocust-diseases-2-939 Perhaps your county Extension office can provide better answers with more information: https://boulder.extension.colostate.edu/ Good luck!
