Unusual mushrooms

Asked November 11, 2019, 9:56 AM EST

Hello, I came across many fairly large mushrooms pushing through the ground making long tunnel patterns in the yard. At first I thought the tunnels were from moles or ferrets, but then realized that they were compacted mushrooms pushing through the ground – at least a hundred of them. Pictures attached. What are they and are they edible. It looks like some animal has been nibbling on them. Donna Setterholm, Lakeville, MN (New Market Township)

Hi, Mushroom identification is very difficult, especially with photos. It may be http://www.mushroom.world/show?n=Lactarius-camphoratus I would strongly advise that you not ingest these since I am in no way certain of that ID. This might be interesting: http://mycology.cfans.umn.edu/
