Winter mulching for red grapes

Asked November 6, 2019, 2:10 PM EST

I have six red grape vines. Most are 4-5 years old. One is new this year. Is it advisable to put down a straw mulch over the feeder roots prior to the winter snow fall. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Grapes are Valient, Fontenac, and one Concord.
