Is this a weed in the lawn?
My husband wants to get rid of anything in the grass that is not grass. Is this a cool weather weed and if so, what should I do? Should I just let it go or is there something that I can use to rid the lawn of it. It is spreading and we don't want it to take over the grass. I'd prefer a natural solution if possible. How do I prevent it in the future? Thank you.

Good morning. This is called chickweed. It is an annual weed that thrives in cool weather. The most natural solution to getting rid of it would be to hand-pull or dig it out before seed dispersal. You will find additional management options on our website. https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/common-chickweed
If you decide to use a post-emergent herbicide, be sure chickweed is listed on the product label and follow the label precautions. https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/lawn-herbicides
