Tree or Weed leaf identification

Asked October 31, 2019, 6:08 AM EDT

Hi, I have spent my whole life working outside and have a good idea of what kind of trees there are. However on a recent job in Philadelphia I came across a leaf design I have never seen before. Any clues as to what it is? Thanks Bill

Based on the pics provided it appears to be some form of mulberry tree - perhaps a paper mulberry or red mulberry. The paper mulberry has a round fruit , about 3/4 inch diameter that is an aggregate of red drupes. The upper surface is rough and the under surface is velvety. The red mulberry also has a rough upper texture but the lower texture is paler and fuzzy. Its fruit resembles blackberries, cylindrical, about 1 - 1.125 inches long.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much!
