Red scat with seeds?

Asked October 21, 2019, 11:03 AM EDT

This red, well-formed, cylindrical scat with seeds was found within about 100 feet of a crab apple tree. There have been black bear sightings in the immediate neighborhood (a hilly forested area of Southeast CT). But also coyotes and foxes. The previous day there was black scat with what appear to be grape seeds found on the same farm animal manure pile. Are these from the same animal? And if so is it from a bear or something else?

Hello,

UConn does not have a scat expert to identify what animal left the scat in your photo.
