Pruning magnolia trees

When is the best time of year to prune? The tree is about ten years old. Thank you.

Since magnolias bloom on old wood, it is best to prune immediately after they bloom. Pruning in winter will reduce or eliminate your bloom. Pruning in fall is not usually recommended because the tree should be shutting down for winter, and pruning encourages new growth. Read here:
